Where are the Olympics in 2024 and beyond?

Starting in 1994 the Olympic Games have been staged every two years, alternating between the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics. The most recent games – a Winter Olympics – were held in Beijing, China in 2022. That means there is an Olympics in 2024. So where are the Olympics being held this year?

2024 Summer Olympics – Paris, France

The 2024 Summer Olympics will be hosted by Paris, France, with the Opening Ceremonies set for July 26 at the Jardins du Trocadero and the Closing Ceremonies set for August 11 at Stade de France. This will be the third time that Paris has hosted the Summer Olympics, as they also had the event in 1924 and 1900.

Originally five cities were in the running to host the 2024 Summer Olympics, with Los Angeles, Rome, Hamburg, and Budapest all set to challenge Paris. However, each of Rome, Hamburg, and Budapest eventually withdrew their bids for the Games, so the International Olympic Committee decided to instead just award the 2024 Summer Olympics to Paris and the 2028 Summer Olympics to Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, expected to be a venue in 2028, also hosted events in both 1932 and 1984.
